Fare Free (and More) on Transit Equity Day!

Whether your a seasoned rider or looking to try public transportation for the first time, VVTA Transit services will be FARE FREE on Tuesday, February 4th in honor of Transit Equity Day and the birthday of Rosa Parks!

Catch your fare free trip on our all of our Fixed Routes, County Routes, Direct Access, Micro-Link and even Route 15!

In addition, The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and Transit Agencies from around the region will also celebrate Trasnsit Equity Day with a “Ride Happy!” Event at the San Bernardino Transit Center from 7 AM to 10 AM. All are invited to attend and learn how to use the many transit services that make up the regional network to travel throughout our region.

On Transit Equity Day – February 4th, celebrated on Rosa Park’s Birthday – everyone will ride free throughout San Bernardino County on bus routes and train lines operated by:

  • Metrolink 
  • Omnitrans 
  • Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA)
  • Mountain Transit
  • Basin Transit
  • Needles Area Transit

The free rides and event are sponsored by SBCTA. SBCTA President Ray Marquez says, “This Transit Equity Day Celebration is part of SBCTA’s Ride Happy! campaign that works to make using transit a positive and easy experience for everyone in San Bernardino County and beyond. The campaign encourages riders to Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Kind so that transit customers and employees can Ride Happy!” 

No Bus Service for MLK Day

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be no public transportation services on Monday, January 20, 2025. Customer Service offices at both our Hesperia and Barstow locations will also be closed for the holiday. Regular service will resume on Tuesday, January 21st.

We encourage you to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy by reflecting on his message of equality and justice, and participating in volunteer opportunities or community events that honor his dream.

Tomorrow is December 1st and you know what that means..time to release the 2024 Christmas Bus! This year’s Christmas Fixed Route and Direct Access buses will be on the road, and if the bus arrives on your Route, then your rode is FARE FREE!

To make things even better, this year we are asking you to take a photo or video of either bus when you see it and post it on Facebook, Instagram or X, tag Victor Valley transit and use the hashtag #buswishes24 and be entered into an opportunity to win one of three prizes, a 31-day bus pass, a $25 Amazon gift card or a 50″ TCL Roku TV!

Fixed Route, County Routes, Micro-Link, Direct Access and even Route 15 will be FREE on Election Day to get you to your polling place!

If you choose to drop off your ballot at an official drop off box, you can find the list of locations and bus routes/stops to get you there at vvta.org/ballot, or if you need to know how to get to your specific polling place via Victor Valley Transit, please call 760-948-3030 and we will help get you there!

The Fare Media Program for Non-Profits Now Open

Calling all Non-profits to Apply for Bus Passes!

VVTA’s annual Fare Media Program for the 2024-2025 season is accepting applications from Non-Profit Agencies through November 15, 2024.

This Fare Media Program is aimed at low-income, disabled, or seniors who currently lack transportation options, or are not familiar with the VVTA system, and therefore are not able to utilize it.

The Fare Media Program helps individuals learn and utilize the local transit system as well as to help subsidize the cost of their travel. It is VVTA’s goal to utilize these funds to the maximum extent possible and serve as many individuals as is possible. Non-Profit organizations that serve these communities, and these individuals, may apply on behalf of their clients for these funds.

VVTA Expands Micro-Link Service with New Zones and Mobile App!

Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) is excited to announce the expansion of its Micro-Link service, set to launch Monday, October 28th with a brand-new zone in Apple Valley. This latest addition aims to provide even greater access to residents across the High Desert.

In addition to the new Apple Valley Micro-Link Zone, the service areas in both Hesperia and Victorville have also been expanded. Victorville riders can now enjoy the convenience of using Micro-Link to reach key destinations such as the Walmart Supercenter on Amargosa Road and the bustling Restaurant Row, home to a variety of eateries and businesses.

But that’s not all—VVTA is introducing a brand-new mobile app, “VVTA AccessLink,” making it easier than ever to book both Micro-Link rides and Direct Access ADA services. Available for both Apple and Android devices, the app promises a smoother, more efficient booking experience for all passengers.

Finally, to kick-off Micro-Link in Apple Valley, all Apple Valley Micro-Link Trips will be FARE FREE Monday, October 28th – Friday, November 1st.
