Route Detours for Hesperia Days Parade

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, Routes 50, 64, 66, and 68 will be on detour on Main Street between C Ave and I Ave to make room for the annual Hesperia Days Parade.  The detour will last from the beginning of service until 12 noon.

As a result the following Stops will be missed:

Route Detours for Happy Trails Parade

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Routes 23, 40, 41, 43, and 47 will be on detour all day to make way for the “Happy Trails Parade, Street Fair, & Car Show” Instead of the Apple Valley Post Office, Buses will meet at Quinnault Rd & Powhatan Rd, near the Apple Valley Animal Shelter.

As a result the following Stops will be missed:

Ribbon Cutting July 18th for VVTA Partnership

We hope you will be able to join us for a special event tomorrow Tuesday, July 18th at the Victor Valley Transportation Center! At 10am, Victor Valley Transit and the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department will hold an official Ribbon Cutting in celebration of the new Sheriff Unit Transit Team. The Ribbon Cutting event will be held under a 20×40 canopy to keep you as cool as possible.

Following the Ribbon Cutting there will be a public event from 10:30 – Noon with booths and free giveaways, plus law enforcement vehicles, search & rescue equipment, vehicles, displays, plus mounted search and rescue members!

Please note public parking will be moved to the north area towards Beck Oil, but a VVTA Micro-Link Van will be onsite to shuttle attendees to the ribbon cutting/public event site.

The Firecracker Express Returns to Barstow!

The Victor Valley Transit Authority once again partners with the City of Barstow to provide the “Firecracker Express”, a free, one day special public route to and from Barstow’s 26th Annual Fireworks Spectacular.

The sky above Barstow will light up this Fourth of July. Victor Valley Transit will provide public transportation to the 26th Annual Fireworks Spectacular at the Robert A. Sessions Memorial Sportspark. The annual event will begin at 5:00 pm on the Fourth of July, and roads will be closed in and around the event. Due to the extremely limited parking, the City of Barstow has partnered with Victor Valley Transit for the second year in a row to bring residents the “Firecracker Express” bus service, providing FREE transportation to and from this annual event. 

The Barstow Fireworks Spectacular will feature Live music from Southern Spirit, bounce houses, inflatable waterslides and other children’s activities for the whole family. You are welcome to bring additional seating and your picnic basket (No BBQs, outside alcohol or glass allowed in the Sportspark). The fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be simulcast in the Sportspark and on 98.1 FM.

Victor Valley Transit will be providing limited fixed-route bus service on the Fourth of July for Routes 1, 2, 3, 6, 28, and 29. All routes will end at the Robert A Sessions Memorial Sportspark. Riders who need to use Routes 28 and 29 must call 760-244-4000 no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2023, to request a ride. Routes 1, 2, and 6 will begin service starting at 5:00 pm from Barstow City Hall, while Route 3 will begin service at Hampton Inn on Lenwood Blvd, beginning at 5:00 pm.

Event attendees will also have the option to the Fireworks Spectacular by using direct bus service at Barstow College located at 2700 Barstow Rd. Buses will begin transportation at 5:00 pm and continue every 15 minutes, with the last bus leaving at 7:00 pm. 

Direct Access passengers wishing to attend the event may reserve FREE rides to the Sportspark by calling 760-244-4000 no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2023.

Crowd watching Fireworks

Return buses will start at 9:30 pm, after the Fireworks Spectacular. Victor Valley Transit has set up a dedicated webpage with complete detailed information on this specialty service. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to be up close to the sights and sounds by riding the Firecracker Express bus service.There will be no other bus service on Tuesday

VVTA Partners with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for “Safe Rides”

The Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station will now have a team, comprised of one sergeant and four deputies, assigned to the Victor Valley Transit Division. 

The team will work directly with the Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) to enhance the safety of passengers and drivers. Passengers will see deputies riding the buses, as well as monitoring activity at bus stops and the Victor Valley Transportation Center. 

“Victor Valley Transit and the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department joining forces is a powerful alliance dedicated to safeguarding passenger safety,” shared VVTA Board Chair Liz Becerra. “By pooling our expertise, we can effectively address security concerns, deter criminal activities, and swiftly respond to emergencies. This partnership fosters a sense of security and promotes the well-being of commuters, making public transportation a reliable and trusted mode of travel for all.”

Because quality of life and the safety of the community is a priority for both agencies, this partnership is something they are excited to implement. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department desires for each passenger on the Victor Valley Transit’s public transportation system to feel confident they can travel to their appointments and social activities safely.

Notice of Public Hearing for Federally Funded Program of Projects for Fiscal Year 2023/24

A Public Hearing and Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors will be held to solicit input and comments on the proposed use of Federal Funds. FTA Sections 5307,5310, 5311, 5339, 5339(b), 5339(c), CMAQ, and other federal, state and local funds will be considered by the Board of Directors as part of the FY 23 Draft Annual Operating and Capital Budget.
