Detectives are attempting to identify a suspect involved in an unprovoked attack on a Victor Valley Transit bus driver. The suspect is described as a black male, 25-35 years old, 6’0”, 250 lbs., black hair and brown eyes.
On December 21, 2018, the suspect got on a Victor Valley Transit Bus at Phelan Road and Buttemere Road in Phelan. He did not put the correct fare in the machine and the bus driver asked him to pay the necessary amount. The suspect became loud, vulgar and threatening to the bus driver. The driver refused to drive away and called in for a supervisor to respond to the location. The suspect got into the driver’s face, continued yelling and pushed the driver out the open door and onto the ground outside. The suspect stepped outside and punched the driver in the face 6 to 8 times while the driver was still on the ground. The driver suffered serious injuries to his face and head from the assault. At the time of the attack, the suspect was wearing a gray and red Chicago Bulls beanie, black and gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black tennis shoes with white soles. The suspect claimed to be homeless in the area. He is possibly left handed due to all punches were from his left fist.

Effective immediately, VVTA Routes 32 and 51 in northwest Victorville are on a roving detour due to road construction. The detour will be in effect until further notice. During this time, bus stops in the area may not be served, and temporary bus may become available. For route 32, bus stops may not be served on Village Drive between Amargosa Road and Air Expressway. Missed stops may include those on Llanada Avenue and Orick Avenue. For route 51, bus stops on Village Drive between Tawney Ridge Lane and Mojave Drive may not be served.
