Due to the holidays, VVTA will not provide service Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 23, Christmas Day on Monday, December 25, and New Year’s Day on Monday, January 1. VVTA will operate its regular Sunday service schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
VVTA Route 1 will detour Saturday, October 14, 2017, due to the Main Street USA Car Show in Barstow. During this time, seven bus stops will not be served, which include the stops on Main Street between 1st Avenue and Barstow Road, 1st Avenue, Hutchinson Street, or 2nd Street.
VVTA will modify the bus stop lineup order at the Victor Valley College (VVC) Transfer Point, the Victorville Transfer Point, and the Barstow Library Transfer Point. The realignment takes effect Sunday, October 1 and coincides with systemwide changes.
VVTA will adjust systemwide fares October 1, 2017, which will align Victor Valley and Barstow fare structures, simplifying passenger travel between both areas. The adjustment will reduce the fare on some services, whereas on other services it may rise. While other transit agencies produce fare increases every two years, VVTA strives for consistency and has not adjusted fares in 10 years. VVTA remains the best value for its level of service, featuring some of the lowest fares in Southern California.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, there will be no Victor Valley Transit Authority services available Monday, September 4, 2017. This includes VVTA transit, administration, customer service, operations, and routing and scheduling services.
Effective immediately, the VVTA bus stop (30139) at Barstow Walmart has been permanently relocated approximately 500 feet north of its original location on Montara Road. The new bus stop is now north of the Armory Road intersection and will feature a temporary bus stop sign until new construction is completed. The bus stop relocation affects VVTA Route 1 and NTC Commuter Routes 101A, 102A, 106A, 101B, 104B and 105B passengers.
Effectively immediately, the Barstow College bus stop will not be served due to construction. Alternatively, passengers may use the temporary Barstow Road stop located at the south driveway to the college. Pending completion of construction, regular service will be restored Wednesday, July 19, 2017. During the detour, passengers requiring transfers between VVTA Route 1 and Route 2 must transfer at the stops on Rimrock Road at Barstow Road.
VVTA Direct Access (ADA) certified riders are NOT REQUIRED TO PRESENT a VVTA-ISSUED PHOTO ID to ride Direct Access. Any government-issued photo ID is sufficient and must presented to the driver along with the VVTA Direct Access Card. However, a VVTA-issued Photo ID can be used alone and replace the need to show 2 different forms of identification to the driver (photo & ADA card). Additionally, VVTA Photo IDs can be used for identification purposes wherever you go. Complimentary VVTA Photo IDs can be obtained during regular business hours (M-F 8:30 – 4:30), at VVTA Hesperia (17150 Smoke Tree Street) At VVTA Barstow (1612 State Street) you can have a photo taken and a VVTA Photo ID will be mailed. Regular Direct Access fares apply if you chose to schedule a ride to VVTA offices.
VVTA will provide free Independence Day bus service in support of the 20th Annual Barstow Fireworks Spectacular at the Robert A. Sessions Sportspark. The special service will run on a limited schedule Tuesday, July 4, 2017. No other VVTA services will be provided.
Beginning July 1, 2017, sales of VVTA 10-Ride Tickets for Barstow Fixed and County Routes will be discontinued. Alternatively, VVTA Value Cards may be purchased in $5, $10, and $20 increments from the bus operator. VVTA 10-Ride Tickets will not be accepted as fare after September 30, 2017.
Passengers using VVTA-issued Veteran, Senior, Disabled, Medicare, Student, and Direct Access discount ID cards will require replacement by the newly-designed VVTA Photo ID Cards, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. The old VVTA ID cards will become obsolete at that time.
VVTA will require valid photo identification for all passengers requesting discount fare, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. VVTA passenger ID cards that do not feature photo identification will become obsolete at that time. Valid government- or school-issued photo IDs will continue to be accepted for discount fare. Excludes VVC Ram Pass.
Victor Valley Transit Authority will require new photo identification cards for all passengers using discount passes, including Veteran, Senior, Disabled, Medicare, Student, and Direct Access, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. Current passenger ID cards will become obsolete at that time. Current discount pass holders may begin replacing their existing IDs on Monday, April 3, 2017. There is no replacement charge for upgrading to a new photo ID card. Passengers may begin the replacement process online at VVTA.org/pass or via email at Info@VVTA.org.
Effective July 1, 2017, all passengers using Barstow Direct Access paratransit service will require ADA certification. An ADA certification card and government-issued identification will be required when boarding. This requirement matches the entire VVTA System service policy. To begin the four- to six-week ADA eligibility certification process and obtain an ADA certification card, passengers must submit an application at ADARide.com or call 1-877-ADA-RIDE. Fixed Route Senior Disabled Medicare (SDM) identification does not qualify for use of ADA Direct Access service. Complementary to fixed route bus service, VVTA offers curb-to-curb paratransit bus service to individuals who meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and are certified. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures that persons with disabilities receive comparable mass transportation service opportunities everyone else receives. For those who have received ADA certification, VVTA Direct Access provides paratransit services as an alternative to its more affordable bus services.

Due to the Christmas on Route 66 Holiday Street Fair in Barstow, VVTA Routes 1, 3, and NTC Commuter Routes 101B, 104B, and 106B will detour from 3 p.m. to end of service on Friday, December 2, 2016. During this time, the following bus stops will not be serviced: the stop (30053) on northbound 2nd Avenue at Cozy Avenue; the stop (30054) on southbound 2nd Avenue at Cozy Avenue; the stop (30093) on westbound Main Street at 6th Avenue.
Passengers boarding County Routes 4 or 5, who pay the cash fare or use a 10 Trip Ticket, can request a single trip transfer from the driver to use on any of the routes 1 through 5 (except the route they originally boarded). Transfers are only valid for 2 hours from time of issuance. Passengers boarding Routes 1, 2, or 3 who pay the cash fare or use a 10 Trip Ticket must pay the difference, when transferring to County Routes 4 or 5. Transfers are only valid for 2 hours from time of issuance.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, VVTA services will not be available Thursday, November 24, 2016. This includes Barstow and Victor Valley transit services and administration offices, customer service, and routing and scheduling. VVTA transit services and routing and scheduling will be available Friday, November 25, but the administration offices will be closed, reopening Monday, November 28.
