Route 54 Victorville begins long-term construction detour May 8, 2017

VVTA Route 54 begins a long-term road construction detour in Victorville on Monday, May 8, 2017. Until further notice, bus stops on Nisqualli Road and Hesperia Road will not be served. Estimated construction completion is in August 2017. Passengers may access various marked bus stops along the detour route.

VVTA-issued discount ID cards must be upgraded to new photo ID by July 1, 2017

Passengers using VVTA-issued Veteran, Senior, Disabled, Medicare, Student, and Direct Access discount ID cards will require replacement by the newly-designed VVTA Photo ID Cards, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. The old VVTA ID cards will become obsolete at that time.

Passenger photo IDs required for discount fare beginning July 1, 2017

VVTA will require valid photo identification for all passengers requesting discount fare, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. VVTA passenger ID cards that do not feature photo identification will become obsolete at that time. Valid government- or school-issued photo IDs will continue to be accepted for discount fare. Excludes VVC Ram Pass.

Victor Valley Transit Authority will require new photo identification cards for all passengers using discount passes, including Veteran, Senior, Disabled, Medicare, Student, and Direct Access, beginning Saturday, July 1, 2017. Current passenger ID cards will become obsolete at that time. Current discount pass holders may begin replacing their existing IDs on Monday, April 3, 2017. VVTA will operate modified holiday schedule

Due to the holidays, VVTA will not operate any services on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, and New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1. VVTA will operate its regular Saturday service schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

VVTA services not available on Thanksgiving Holiday, Thursday, November 24, 2016

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, VVTA services will not be available Thursday, November 24, 2016. This includes Barstow and Victor Valley transit services and administration offices, customer service, and routing and scheduling. VVTA transit services and routing and scheduling will be available Friday, November 25, but the administration offices will be closed, reopening Monday, November 28.

VVTA will participate in the Great California ShakeOut earthquake drill Thursday, October 20, 2016. A one-minute service disruption will be experienced system wide at 10:20 a.m. Victor Valley College bus stops will not be serviced between 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

VVTA services closed for Memorial Day Holiday on Monday, May 30, 2016

EFFECTIVE MAY 30, 2016: Due to the Memorial Day national holiday, there will be no service for all Victor Valley Transit Authority services in Victor Valley and Barstow, including Fixed Route, NTC Commuter, B-V Link, County, or Direct Access buses on Monday, May 30, 2016. VVC Ram Pass & Excelsior High School Student ID Cards

It has come to the attention of the VVTA that Excelsior Students are trying to utilize their School ID’s as a Fare Card. These ID’s are to be used as ID purposes only to qualify for the student fare. The only school ID valid for fare payment is the Victor Valley College RAM Pass, and only if it is current. This is Fare Evasion and is punishable by law – per CA Penal Code §640.

Mall Bus Stops Temporarily Relocate Wednesday Law Enforcement Training

Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) is temporarily moving the Mall of Victor Valley bus stop to the Chevron Gas Station and Car Wash bus stop from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, due to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and mall security exercise in the parking lot.  VVTA Routes 21, 44, 52, 53, and 54 will utilize the temporary stop located on west side of Mall Blvd. north of Bear Valley Road in front of the Chevron Gas Station. Passengers should allow extra time to make the connection and adhere to pedestrian guidelines.

VVTA RAM Pass Fare Validation for Victor Valley College Fall Semester Begins Next Week

In preparation for the Victor Valley College fall semester, Victor Valley Transit Authority RAM Pass fare validation begins Monday, July 27, 2015. Validated students who were registered for summer semester may continue the RAM Pass to August 25, 2015, when the fall semester begins and a new pass will be required.

The transportation program enables currently registered and validated students to ride the VVTA fixed route and county route system for free, using their valid VVC student identification or VVC Associated Student Body card as fare. Use of transit passes by individuals other than the person to which it was originally issued is considered fare evasion. Passes will be confiscated and the person possessing the pass subject to fines and prosecution.

The VVTA RAM Pass transit program was developed in partnership with Victor Valley College (VVC), delivering High Desert students access to education by reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and improving student parking.

VVTA & BAT Services Not Available July 4 in Observance of Independence Day Holiday

In observance of Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, 2015, there will no services available by Victor Valley Transit Authority and Barstow Area Transit, including transit and customer service. VVTA Administration Office will be closed Friday, July 3, 2015, but transit service will continue as normal. Fireworks are never allowed on buses.

VVTA Routes 21, 52, 54 Long Term Detour April 20 to Further Notice

EFFECTIVE: APRIL 20-UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Due to reasons beyond VVTA’s control and road construction on Bear Valley Road between Dunia and Amethyst, VVTA Bus Routes 21, 52, and 54 will be detoured.

ALERT 05: Unfolded Shopping Carts On Fixed Route, County Route & Direct Access Buses

EFFECTIVE: Immediately (distributed February 13, 2015): First of all, it should be noted that it is against the law to block the bus aisles. However, for passenger convenience, VVTA is allowing unfolded shopping carts (personal, fold-able carts with two wheels) aboard the bus. Unfolded shopping carts are to be maintained and controlled by the passenger at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS!

SANBAG Short-Range Transit Plan Fiscal Year 2015-2019

EFFECTIVE: January 2015: SANBAG is conducting a public outreach program to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed regional transit goals and objectives for the new SRTP, as well as to help identify unmet regional transit needs. The meetings are in San Bernardino on Monday, January 26, in Joshua Tree on Tuesday, January 27, and in Ontario on Wednesday January 28, and Apple Valley on Thursday, January 29.

ALERT 36: VVTA Holiday Customer Service & Bus Schedule Changes

EFFECTIVE: December 24, 25, 31, 2014 and January 1, 2015: CHRISTMAS EVE: Begins 7:00 PM. Ends 8:00 PM. CHRISTMAS DAY: NO BUS SERVICE. NEW YEAR’S EVE: Begins 7:00 AM. Ends 8:00 PM. NEW YEAR’S DAY: NO BUS SERVICE Victor Valley Transit Authority’s Administration Office will be closed December 24th, 25th & 31st, 2014 and January 1st, 2015. Also, the VVTA Routing and Scheduling Department and Customer Service will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

EFFECTIVE: November 27, 2014: There will be no service for all Victor Valley Transit Authority Fixed Route Buses, Adelanto Buses, County Buses, Inter-City Buses, NTC Commuter Buses, or Paratransit Buses. Also, there will be no Customer Service or Routing & Scheduling available on this holiday. Also, Victor Valley Transit Authority’s Administration office will be closed on Friday, November 28th, 2014.

ALERT 30: VVTA To Participate In The Great California Shake Out Earthquake Drill

EFFECTIVE: October 16, 2014: On Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:16 AM, VVTA will participate in the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Dispatchers will make announcements to all vehicles in the field. All vehicles are to pull over at the nearest safe location and secure the vehicle for approximately 60 seconds. The driver will then instruct you and your fellow passengers to turn toward the aisles and put your arms over your head for protection. After the drill is over, the driver will continue with the trip. The Great California ShakeOut is a nation-wide earthquake drill organized to educate Californians about the importance of preparing for earthquakes. Visit for more information. ALERT 27: Victor Valley College Students Ride Free On VVTA Buses

EFFECTIVE: Immediately (September 15, 2014)  Effective immediately, any Victor Valley College student can ride all VVTA Regional, County, and Deviated routes for free by showing a valid (not expired) VVC ID or ASB card. VVTA’s Route 15, BV-Link, NTC Commuter, ADA Direct Access, and vanpools are excluded. The Victor Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors voted Monday to fund the Victor Valley College Ram Pass pilot program, reinstating the free student bus pass until January 2015, when a sustainable VVC transportation fee is expected to take effect.
