EFFECTIVE: October 16, 2014: On Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 10:16 AM, VVTA will participate in the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Dispatchers will make announcements to all vehicles in the field. All vehicles are to pull over at the nearest safe location and secure the vehicle for approximately 60 seconds. The driver will then instruct you and your fellow passengers to turn toward the aisles and put your arms over your head for protection. After the drill is over, the driver will continue with the trip. The Great California ShakeOut is a nation-wide earthquake drill organized to educate Californians about the importance of preparing for earthquakes. Visit ShakeOut.org for more information. VVTA is committed to customer safety. This drill is designed to help prepare for a natural disaster.
EFFECTIVE: Immediately (September 15, 2014)
Effective immediately, any Victor Valley College student can ride all VVTA Regional, County, and Deviated routes for free by showing a valid (not expired) VVC ID or ASB card. VVTA’s Route 15, BV-Link, NTC Commuter, ADA Direct Access, and vanpools are excluded. The Victor Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors voted Monday to fund the Victor Valley College Ram Pass pilot program, reinstating the free student bus pass until January 2015, when a sustainable VVC transportation fee is expected to take effect.
EFFECTIVE: September 1, 2014
VVTA’s efforts to establish a permanent Victor Valley College RAM PASS program have stalled. As a result, ASB RAM PASS cards are no longer accepted as fare payment on VVTA buses. Regular VVTA Student fares will apply, until further notice. VVTA worked closely with students and partners to develop a sustainable program, which would provide all registered students a low cost and environmentally-conscious transportation option. A majority (67%) of students voting in the May 2014 special election supported the $6 per student transportation fee to be paid each semester. The transportation fee however has not yet been brought forward by ASB to the College Board of Trustee’s for adoption. As such, the pilot program is expiring and VVTA can no longer honor the RAM PASS without a current agreement. VVTA hopes a new agreement can be approved by the Board of Trustee’s to allow the program to resume.
